This Business Briefing is a special event for members of FBA's Forum Group Program, and family businesses who are interested to become part of the Forum Group community.
______
FBA and National Partner, KPMG, are delighted to bring together our Western Australian Forum Group community to learn from Directors of KPMG’s Enterprise Business & Tax Advisory team, Ms Rebecca Chivers and Mr Jason Gaudoin.
Rebecca Chivers, Director, KPMG
Rebecca is a Director in KPMG Enterprise’s Business & Tax Advisory team. With over 13 years of experience working with families, Rebecca supports them through the entire business lifecycle—from start-up, ensuring the right operational and investment structures, to expansion and exit, including sale, retirement, or succession to the next generation. Rebecca is particularly passionate about estate planning, helping families to consider their private investments, business affairs, and family dynamics holistically, with a focus on tax, asset protection, and succession.
Jason Gaudoin, Director, KPMG
Jason is a Director at KPMG’s Perth office with over 20 years of experience in providing specialist tax consulting and advisory services to private and family-owned businesses across Western Australia, spanning a diverse range of industries. He specialises in advising family businesses and private companies on complex tax issues, structuring, ATO audits, employment taxes, and tax governance.
The ATO has recently released its priority focus areas for private wealth in 2025, which include reviewing the affairs of wealthy family groups involved in planning, structuring, and exit/disposal activities.
Recognising the imminent intergenerational wealth transfer, a key aspect of the ATO’s focus is on succession planning, as well as close scrutiny of family trust distributions.
In this session, we will cover areas of the ATO’s scrutiny that family businesses should be aware of, along with other important tax considerations for private and family groups. Additionally, the session will address critical employment risk areas, such as payday super, wage theft, and obligations on directors in these areas.
Our presentation will be followed by refreshments and networking, held in alignment with FBA’s Forum Group commitment to confidentiality.
