Tell us about your business.
Ten years ago, Nick, the owner of N. V. Professional, made the life-changing decision to leave Italy and start fresh in Australia. With a background in electrical engineering, he arrived without knowing a word of English and worked in construction and hospitality to build a new life. After four years as a chef and pizza chef, Nick decided to take control of his future and start his own business, N. V. Professional Cleaner. What began as a solo venture has now grown into a family business, with his sister joining him three years ago. N. V. Professional offers a full range of cleaning services, including commercial and domestic cleaning, upholstery and leather cleaning, bond cleaning (end-of-lease cleaning), and mobile car wash services. Beyond running the business, Nick values helping others start a new chapter in their lives. Just as he had to find his way in Australia, he continues to support many friends who have also moved here, helping them find work and opportunities. Today, the team includes two of his sister’s best friends, along with friends from his hometown.
What is your greatest success?
Being able to work with his sister on her own accord. She’s not just his sister; she’s also his best friend and sharing something he built with her means the world to Nick.
What is your greatest strength?
If there’s one thing that defines Nick, it’s his philosophy to never give up. Coming to Australia with no English, no support, and many responsibilities, he had no choice but to stay strong and keep going. That mindset has carried him through every challenge, and it’s the foundation of both his business and his life.
Why did you join FBA?
Nick joined FBA thanks to a friend who introduced him to it. From the very first moment, he knew he wanted to be part of the community. It’s incredibly inspiring to listen to and learn from others who are on the same journey, people who have been running family businesses for generations. Nick deeply values the opportunity to understand the importance of sharing experiences and exchanging ideas with other families who face the same challenges, but also the same joys, of running a family business. This experience has given him a broader perspective and helped him grow both personally and professionally.
What advice would you give to other businesses?
Do everything you can to protect your family relationships. For him, the biggest and most painful regret in life would be damaging the bond with his family over a business, money, a decision, or power within the company. Family comes first always.
